Of Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice”

(accounting for the possibility of an asteroid strike,
or global warming)

Some say one day we’ll be hit by rock.
Some say we’ll overheat.
From what I’ve felt of both, a shock,
I hold with those who favor The Knock.

But if we were twice to face defeat
I think I know enough of temper
To say that for destruction, burning
Is a constant danger – semper –
And seems to be what we’re earning.
